An invisible risk for your home

Radon gas is an invisible and deadly enemy. This radioactive gas, present in many homes, is the second leading cause of lung cancer according to WHO. At Siber, we offer effective solutions to protect your home and ensure clean and healthy air, complying with the most stringent regulations.

What is a Double Flow system?

What is radon gas and how is it generated?

The radon gas is a radioactive gas that cannot be detected with the naked eye, as it is colorless and odorless. This gas is naturally produced in the earth's crust in granite land through the decay of natural uranium. As uranium naturally disintegrates, it turns into radon, and this contaminant is capable of reaching us, accumulating in our respiratory system and producing radiation.

The presence of traces of the element in the earth produces concentrations of radon in most soils, which can be expelled into the outside atmosphere and into enclosed spaces. Outside, it usually poses no problem as it dilutes easily. The problem arises in enclosed spaces, especially those in contact with the ground, such as basements and garages.

Radon can accumulate in homes through the ground, walls, ceilings, or water sources, seeping through cracks and gaps, affecting home safety.

Health risk

The radon gas is an invisible and dangerous enemy, responsible for 40% more deaths than traffic accidents and the second leading cause of lung cancer after tobacco, with approximately 1,500 deaths annually in Spain.

Additionally, this radioactive gas can weaken structures, generating “sick buildings” that affect the health and habitability of their occupants.

Solutions for its elimination

Ventilation is key to combating the accumulation of radon gas in enclosed spaces. A mechanical ventilation system that extracts stale air and pushes fresh filtered air is essential to ensure a healthy environment. Compliance with the regulations of the Technical Building Code (CTE) in new work is essential to minimize the risk of contamination by radon and ensure the healthiness of the building.

Ventilation and mechanical extraction

Constant air renewal in basements, slabs, and floors to expel accumulated radon.

Measures in new work

Installation of membranes that block the entry of radon from the ground, combined with depressurization techniques in high concentration areas.

In existing homes

Depressurization of the subsoil to reduce radon concentrations beneath the home.

Ventilated sanitary chambers

Separate the interior from the ground, reducing radon concentration through passive or mechanical ventilation, depending on the design and airtightness of the building.
