Ventilation in tertiary buildings

In buildings used for purposes other than residence, in order to limit thermal losses, the most effective solution is to adapt the air renewal flow rates to the actual occupancy of the rooms. Indeed, the occupancy rate (usage frequency x occupancy ratio) of rooms such as offices or meeting rooms is highly reliable.

"All or nothing" ventilation

This solution allows savings of up to 35% on air renewal flow rates.

Principle:

  • When the room is unoccupied, during the operating period of the ventilation, the airflow should correspond to 10% of the nominal flow and is intended for pre- or post-ventilation.
  • When the room is occupied, the nominal flow is achieved through presence detection.

"Proportional" ventilation

This solution allows savings of up to 70% on air renewal flow rates.

Principle:

  • When the room is unoccupied, the flow rate corresponds to 10% of the nominal flow, as with the “all or nothing” system.
  • With variable occupancy, the air renewal flow adjusts to the number of people according to the level of carbon dioxide (CO2).
  • With maximum occupancy, the flow reaches the nominal rate.

Single zone

The fan controls a single room (e.g., meeting room). In the “all or nothing” solution, the fan must ensure 2 flow rates (minimum and nominal). In the “proportional” solution, the fan speed must adapt to the actual occupancy conditions of the room.

Multi-zone

The fan controls several rooms (e.g., meeting room + office). With a configuration that may be “all or nothing” or “proportional,” sensors or probes act on the terminals (diffusers, all-or-nothing dampers, proportional dampers, etc.) causing the fan to adapt to demand variations.

Single-Flow VMC in tertiary buildings

System designed for the individual extraction of stale air and renewal in buildings based on constant airflow rates. Its operation, based on the principle of air sweeping inside the spaces, is completely independent between them, offering an excellent balance between guaranteed indoor air quality and energy autonomy according to occupancy and use.

The stale air is extracted from the rooms through constant airflow self-regulating outlets connected to the ventilation unit via ducts. The system can be equipped with CO2 or presence detectors.
