Projects completed with BIM methodology

The term Building Information Modeling (BIM) refers to a collaborative working methodology that is very useful for creating and managing any construction project. Its purpose? To centralize all the data provided by the parties involved. Currently, its application is mandatory in Spain in the civil and public sectors.
BIM Projects in Spain
To see how it works and how it affects the process, at Siber Ventilación we have set out to gather some examples. The following projects are considered pioneering in the application of the BIM methodology.Metropolitan Stadium of Madrid
Inaugurated in September 2017 and is owned by Atlético de Madrid. Its roof has smart LED lighting and reaches a capacity of 68,000 spectators. The study that carried it out was Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos, which relied on this methodology to complete the works. The project consisted of two well-defined phases:
- Excavation of the land and construction of the stands.
- Installation of the roof.
Justice City of Córdoba
A pioneering project in the application of BIM within Andalusia. This colossal work began in late August 2014 and resulted in a building of seven stories (two of which are underground) and more than 50,000 m² of surface. Thanks to this methodology, the Justice Administration of Andalusia was able to apply its control model effectively. Not only that. It also had the opportunity to monitor the construction and execution contract. All this through a simple integrated database.
Health Sciences Campus of the University of Barcelona
The last example we will give is the oldest of all. It was a project considerably more modest than the previous ones (approximately 11,800 m²), although also worthy of mention. In this case, the BIM methodology proved to be particularly effective in allowing control of all structural and architectural elements of the building. In fact, it managed to prevent conflicts between the various disciplines that converged.
This was quite complicated, especially considering that the project underwent numerous modifications along the way and had to be carried out in several separate phases. Thanks to BIM, the actual budget was 19% lower than initially planned.
Controlled mechanical ventilation systems and BIM methodology
The BIM methodology also plays a key role in the installation of controlled mechanical ventilation systems. After all, these are essential elements in almost all construction projects aimed at making buildings more sustainable, environmentally friendly, and comfortable for users. With this way of working, at Siber we can coordinate more comfortably and easily with the other parties involved in the construction or renovation. In this way, our work is much more efficient, benefiting both the end clients and the other agents involved in the project.
In summary, there are several phases in a project for the installation of a controlled mechanical ventilation system. However, thanks to BIM, the coordination of all participants in these operations is more efficient. This methodology has been demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing time and costs for a decade now.
